PHOENIX is a mixed-use, revamped warehouse in Downtown Alameda focused on  Coworking and Events of all kinds. The space is home to 16 dedicated Art Studios & Offices and hundreds of Coworking Members. We are built for community by being a fine-tuned but warm professional space that easily transforms into an eclectic venue. we host film & photoshoots, private events, meetings, festivals, and workshops. M-F 8am-6pm we focus our attention on our coworking member community while simultaneously booking a diverse range of events available evenings and weekends.

COWORKING DIRECTOR

This is an in-person, customer-facing mixed role of community management and marketing.

Schedule: 32 weekday hours/week between the hours of 8am–6pm.

About you:
You love people, are tech-savvy, like to wear many hats. and always thinking independently about how to grow our customer base and community while maintaining the space's daily flow, hospitality and atmosphere. You are the warm, resourceful face of PHOENIX for our coworkers and prospective members. Creative grassroots marketing, community engagement, and social media fluency are things you pride yourself on, with professional experience that includes AI competency and utilization. On-brand graphic design skills are a big plus. You're ready to embrace diverse and social workdays, and thrive in a dynamic environment.

Must have: 

  • Marketing and/or brand-building background

  • College degree

  • AI competency

  • 5+ years professional workforce experience

  • G Suite proficiency

  • Aesthetic grasp of brand

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Outstanding interpersonal and multitasking skills

Responsibilities:

  • Open and close the space; set up and reset meeting rooms throughout the day; maintain a clean, comfortable, and smoothly running environment during coworking hours

  • Be the go-to, welcoming presence for coworkers and guests — greet members by name, learn their preferences, and serve espresso drinks each morning

  • Onboard new members and conduct coworking and event space tours

  • Proactively drive member acquisition, dedicated desk sign-ups, meeting room bookings, and corporate off-site partnerships while maintaining retention and referrals

  • Develop and organize grassroots marketing initiatives; actively connect with local businesses and organizations

  • Manage social media accounts (Instagram, LinkedIn) and keep the website current

  • Assist in content creation for digital and print; create monthly newsletters and internal communications

  • Manage our Mailbox Service clients including USPS 1583 forms, mailbox labels, and monthly mail forwarding

  • Answer phones and input client and event data into software systems

  • Light inventory management and ordering

  • Create community-building opportunities such as lunches, meetups, workshops, and in-space events

  • Schedule and support Ambassadors and manage our high school senior internship program

  • Stay current on coworking industry trends and identify opportunities for growth

Compensations

MARKETING & COMMUNITY LEAD

This is an in-person, mixed role focused on marketing, member acquisition, brand growth, and community engagement — while also serving as the solo lead of the PHOENIX space during afternoon coworking hours.

Schedule: 16–18 weekday hours/week between the hours of 12pm–4pm.

About you:
You're tech-savvy and savor the marketing challenge of growing a customer base and community while love being the friendly, informed face of PHOENIX at the desk for our daily members in the afternoons. The mixed role switches throughout the day, attending to our customers and prospective ones while proactively driving outreach, building brand awareness, and finding new ways to bring people through our doors while maintaining the space's daily flow, hospitality and atmosphere. You're equally comfortable crafting a social media campaign and being the warm, resourceful point person for coworkers and walk-ins. Creative grassroots marketing, social media fluency, and community engagement are things you pride yourself on, with professional experience that includes AI competency and utilization. On-brand graphic design skills are a big plus. You love growth targets and go get 'em!

  • Stay current on coworking industry trends and bring fresh ideas to the table

COMMUNITY MANAGER

Schedule: 16–18 weekday hours/week between the hours of 8am–12pm.

  • Set up meeting rooms and welcome guests for room reservations

  • Answer phones and input client and event data into software systems

  • Light inventory management and ordering

  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of all shared amenities and common areas

  • Create community-building opportunities such as lunches, meetups, and in-space events

  • Assist in creating monthly newsletters and internal communications

  • Stay current on coworking industry trends and contribute ideas for improvement

Compensations

  • $24–$27/hr based on experience and expertise

EVENT HOST

We are looking for Freelance Hosts to help manage our event venue in Downtown Alameda. Must have weekend availability, be professional, reliable, and flexible! Alameda/Oakland local residency is a plus.  

Responsibilities/Tasks :

  • You are the representative of PHOENIX during events. You open the doors for our guests and assist them with setup and break down. During the events, you are available for questions and will keep an eye on anything facility related.  You are the protector of the space, making sure guests treat the space with respect. You make the guests feel welcome and take care of.

  • During events, there will be some downtime. During this time, you will work on event planning + easy marketing related tasks on your own laptop. There will be some organizing, maintenance and cleaning tasks as well. 

  • Assist with any add-ons,decor rentals & AV equipment. 

    Requirements/Tools:

  • Your own laptop

  • Basic computer literacy skills and ability to (learn how to) work with planning software: Tripleseat, All seated, Trello, Google Drive, etc.  

  • Approachability, Great Communication, Interpersonal Skills, Problem Solving Abilities, Multi-tasking

  • Must have a quick response rate to all emails/texts from the event coordinator. 

  • Availability on weekends


We are looking for:

A person with a flexible schedule and a positive attitude. Experience in the hospitality or event industry is a bonus. Compensation:

Independent Contractor (Non-Employee, Monthly Invoicing)

Approx 3 event opening/closing training required.

Starting pay $25/hr. Hours depend on the number of bookings per week. Flexibility in choosing the events that work well with your schedule.
